I've heard a lot of bad things about pork and have stayed away from it for several years. however, i have noticed that a lot of people on this site have a lot of good recipes for it.
Is pork that bad for your body in comparison to over meats?
thanks!!!

I think beef is the worst for you. All things in moderation is okay though.0

I love pork, and I love beef. Both can be high in fat. Eat proper potions and choose lean cuts. Everything in moderation.0

just like beef, it depends on the cut and how it is prepared. do a little homework on the cut you are considering to see how it fits into your calorie count.
baby back ribs are super yummy, but also high in fat/cals.
pork loin is delicious, comparitively low in fat and calories, and economical.
I have a former linebacker and a current linebacker that I am feeding, and a whole pork loin (about $15 at costco) lasts us for 4 dinners. with people who eat normal amounts of food, I'm sure it could go much further:laugh:
don't be afraid of pork!0 -
A number of years back there was a scare in the pork industry because some farmers were keeping their animals under conditions that created problems that spread to humans but that really was a long, long time ago. Pork has come back as "the other white meat" like the commercials imply and is better than red meat if you're going to do any competitive activities.
Take a pork tenderloin and put it in a ziplock with a marinade of your choice and let it sit all day in the fridge and then when you come home grill it so that it's still juicy and only very slightly pink. Slice into medallions and serve with asparagus spears and brown or wild rice and you have a very healthy meal.0 -
I love pork. It's probably the meat I cook most often. Pork loin (or tenderloin) is much lower in fat than other cuts (such as a shoulder roast, or bacon). But I eat the fattier cuts too--all things in moderation! I personally think that free-range pork has much better flavor, although it costs a little more.
And as far as beef goes, grass-fed beef is much leaner than conventional, feedlot-raised, grain-fed beef, and has almost all 'good' fats in it.0 -
mmmmmmmmmm. pork, the other white meat
Pork isn't as good for you as chicken and turkey are touted to be but it is healthier than beef. someone has already said it, everything in moderation.0
