I am constantly struggling with the red. I know they are guidelines, but I hate when I go over in sodium or sugars. And I do take in account natural sugars, but still. GAR. It sucks trying to eat 1700 calories healthy and stay under- I am convinced it is darn near impossible unless you are just eating veggies and chicken. /End rant.

I don't really pay attention to the 'red' numbers...the only one that matters, to me anyways, is the red line of the daily calorie count..

I think you are right about just eating chicken n' veggies if you want to keep those other numbers under....

I don't worry too much about the red other than sodium. I have ended days under my calorie goal and been over in carbs, protein, and fat. Last time I checked those are the only ways you get calories so I'm not sure how that works out (mine are on the MFP default settings)
  • I hate to side-track but, believe it or not, ham is sometimes pretty good in numbers too. We get the ham steaks from Costco and they are like 110 calories a serving! cut off your 3oz, put it in the microwave and you got yourself ham! (i love ham, can you tell?)

I manipulate my numbers to what I think they should be, then I pay attention to those red numbers. For example on sugar, I set mine at 100, you can barely have a couple of pieces of fruit or a glass of milk without going over what MFP allows. I prefer to focus on getting nutrients that I know I fall short on. But hey, I'm human, I like my sweets and hmmm, did someone mention ham? :o)

Thanks guys. It is just nice to hear that I don't need to stress on it. And on that ham front..I am not too much of a fan! I am a chicken lady all the way :D haha.

Me too! As long as I am under my calories I'm happy but I dislike being over on carbs, sodium, fat, and sometimes sugar (but I think it's set kind of low anyway). Protein and fiber I couldn't care less.
