Which healthy eating plan to follow? IR / High Cholestrol /

I'm not at all knowledgeable about dietary requirements and/or diets, so if I make a wrong statement here, please don't crucify me. I'm just trying to understand this process.....

I've been doing a lot of research today to try and find a healthy eating plan for someone with my particular set of problems - I have insulin resistance, actually metabolic syndrome, and to help solve this problem one must apparently eat low carb, high proteien, moderate fat and hardly any sugar. So this means I'm allowed a lot of vegetables, +/- 35% proteien (of total Kj's), a moderate amount of fruit and fats, and on the other end I need to control the intake of dairy foods (only low carb), legumes (in moderation). Whole grains (because they contain a starch that is broken up into glucose) and sugar needs to be strictly controlled. Okay, so I found all the lists detailing exactly what is high carb, high sugar, low GI and the like.
Bottom line is: More proteien (animal protein)& vegetables, less legumes, whole grains. That was relatively easy to follow.

Then I looked at my Nutrabalance report - here it was said I have very high cholesterol, very high triglyceride, very high chloride, very low iron, very low neutrophils, very high lymphocytes and very high eosin.... half of it doesn't make sense, but the bottom line is that I need to try and get my cholesterol down so here I need to be careful of eating meat again, limit fat and up legumes.
That's almost the exact opposite of the first advice.

Then to add to my misery, I read the report (also from Nutrabalance) about what to eat for my bloodtype, and according to that type A's are natural vegetarians and should cut down on meat and up fruit & vegetables.

So while the latter two reports seem to agree (to an extent), my real problem is my IR! The high cholestrol is also worrying.... So what the heck do I eat and what do I avoid.....

Up until now I've just tried to increase my exercise and stick to my calorie goal. Then I read about TEED and realized that I don't earn an award if I eat far less than my calorie goal for the day....

What to do??? Can someone more knowledgeable than me please enlighten me, or if you have similar problems, what has worked for you?

O yes, this is not about a diet per se... this is about changing the way I live and being healthier... I know that I will automatically shred weight if I can stick to a healthy eating plan.
