Air popped popcorn is 31 calories per cup (8g). Simply weigh out your popcorn before you air/oil free microwave pop to get the rough estimate of how much you want, pop, reweigh the popped portion. Once you figure out how many tablespoons, etc you usually want to pop, you only need to weigh the finished product.0 -
I stopped eating the microwave popcorn (I'm not talking about the popcorn you can pop in a lunch bag) when people were coming down with popcorn lung. I bought an air popper for like $15 and love it. I pop it and put a little parm cheese on it. There aren't many calories in it...it'll tell you on the bag how many. Besides that with the air popper I know I'm not getting any processed junk.
What is "popcorn lung"???
It is a disease that some workers in popcorn plants develop, because of the exposure to one of the ingredients commonly found in buttered popcorn. Also, a case has been reported by a user who ate at least 2 bags of popcorn a day

I use Cypressa kernals which are about 320 cals per 100g0

Using the coconut oil is a really good option. Do you put it in the bag solid or melt it first before popping?0

Airpop the popcorn, then lightly spray with spray cooking oil lightly dust with fine salt. Then sprinkle hot sauce, such as Franks Red Hot.
2 ounces (1/4 cup) unpopped is 219 calories.0 -
I use about two small handfulls- little bigger than palm- but not a fistful (1/2 cup was to much- and 1/4 is not enough)- I use bacon grease and a non-stick pan- no microwaving needed.
I usually add 1/2 tablespoon of butter and salt- but at some point I'm going to use cocoa powder- I hear that's delicious- I just am lazy and I like my popcorn the way I make it so I haven't been inspired enough to change it!0 -

I had to google this because it sounded snope-worthy - but it's real. However - only one "consumer" has ever been diagnosed with the condition. It's typically an industrial condition. How many bags of diacetyl does one have to inhale to contract this I wonder?0
