Okay guys & gals. I need some advice. For a little over a week, the joint in my right knee has been excruciating! I haven't stopped working out or anything. In fact, I've revved it up thinking I just needed to work it out. Not helping. I've taken Aleive for the pain but that doesn't help either. It just hurts! Any ideas what it could be?

I'm not sure, but I don't think it'd hurt to have a doctor check it out. Good luck!0

Few questions. Does it hurt when you twist it certain directions or feel unstable when you walk? Is it swollen? Does it click or crack when you walk up stairs?0

Well, it doesn't hurt just when twisting this way or that way. It does look a tad swollen and doesn't make any noises, thank God! I'd TOTALLY freak. It hurts when I bend my knee, walk, etc. The pain is centralizede to the left of the knee right where your calf starts. It feels like its just one "pocket" of pain. Its so weird. I slept with one of those heating patches on it last night. Didn't help.0 -
See a doctor...or...if you are stubborn like me, RICE = Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. And take Aleve.
If you have a compression wrap it is the best thing in the world for an achey knee. I didn't run for about 6 days while the knee was hurt, but after doing the RICE method diligently I was good to go.0 -
Is it swollen behind you knee on the back of your leg? Could be a Baker's cyst. I had that years ago0

Just read your profile! I envy your cleverness. Best thing I've read in a while!
Now, why can't you get Aleve where you are? What is the name of this God-forsaken place?! NO ALEVE!:noway::mad:

don't do that!!!ICE ICE ICE. Heating it up will just make it worse. I'd do the RICE method for a week and stay off of it and if it doesn't get better go to a doctor.

12by311 stated it earlier, rest, ice, compression and elevation. That said, don't ice for more that 30 minutes at a time because your body will treat it like hypothermia and send blood to it after a long time. Also, don't put a cloth between your knee and the ice, defeats the purpose. Hope your knee feels better. My knee has been losing cartilage over years due to basketball and hurts a lot so I know what you're going through,

Thanks everyone. Great help. I've been doing the alternating ice thing and trying to take it easy. You guys are great.0

Good to hear. A bit of rest and ice does wonders for the body.0
