Nutritionally Balanced Week (Instead of Day)

I make sure my preschooler & toddler have a nutritionally balanced week instead of day as per their pediatrician because different foods are typically feast or famine with both girls on any individual day.

Looking over my food log for the last week since I started using myfitnesspal I've noticed that the same works in my life too. One day I'm way over on Vitamin A (sugar, Vitamin C, what-have-you) the next day I could be way under (until I made a concentrated effort it was the same for calories too - although I was ALWAYS over a healthy amount to lose weight). But all my nutrient & vitamin intakes seem to level out on a weekly basis.

Is this normal and/or will it sabotage my weight loss efforts? Should I try to make weekly closer to a 3-4 day time frame when everything is in closer balance?

Thoughts, suggestions?

For many years I ate a balanced diet over the course of a week but maybe not on any given day. I thought I felt great but then I tried to eat a balanced diet everyday. I was surprised at how much better I felt. Now if I have an unbalanced day I really notice how much worse I feel. I kind of equate it to oil in my car. Yes I can get buy without changing my oil regularly but it does put my wear and tear on my car even if I replace it with premium oil later down the road.
