Fruit in iced tea?

Recently a restaurant my boyfriend and I went to had flavored iced teas. I tried the peach unsweet one and loved it without adding any sugar to it. I have been trying to find a recipe to make my own at home, but every recipe I have found calls for canned or frozen peaches with sugar as well. I would rather use fresh fruit if possible. Anyone have any suggestions or experience with adding fruits to tea?

Just try the recipes that you have found and only add fresh fruit. You may be surprised by the taste. The best fruit to add to juice are the really really ripest ones those are the sweetest naturally.

Agree, just add fresh instead of canned. And if you can, use the fruit that's almost overripe, because that's the sweetest point, and makes it much softer. I LOVE peach tea with fresh peaches in the summer.. Mmmm..

    Peach tea sounds lovely! X
  • I like to take green or black tea and brew it as usual, then add chopped fruit (especially strawberries) into it and let it set over night. Sometimes I even play around with mixing different flavors, like green tea and raspberry tea. I sweeten with stevia.

bump - making some tonight - I have some overripe strawberries :)
  • I guess I was hoping someone could tell me a ratio of tea to fruit since I have heard that canned fruit is sweeter than it's fresh counterpart. I guess I just have to roll up my selves and experiment in the kitchen. I will post my findings later if I find something I like. I know some people have trouble drinking water like I do, and it would help.

How about buying fresh fruit in season, puree them in a blender, and freeze into ice cube trays? Then you can add ice fruit cubes to your tea.
