Post-Workout Recovery

How many carbs, protein and calories should I be consuming after a workout?

Sometimes I will have an apple and peanut butter or a post workout recovery drink. I just want to make sure that I get the right amount of nutrients after a workout.

Oh, I workout at night before bed if that makes a difference.

    I usually have a high protein low carb dinner as i work out after work...Breakfast and lunch will contain most of my carbs so by the time i get to the gym im full of energy!

    It is important to have something high in protein. It had been recommended in Runner's World Magazine, for workouts at night, to eat Turkey meat after a workout. The Triptafan that makes you sleeping from eating Turkey will help your muscles relax and recover while the protein helps them repair.
