Is it Cardio or Strength Training?

I have been putting in as gardening my recent activity of cutting , chopping loading carrying etc trees(clearing off a property recently bought plus getting in the wood for next season) , this will be on going for a few weeks but think it is alot more work than just gardening and wondered how you can know what you are burning for sure. There is alot of lifting so thinking theres your strength training and the constant moving and walking , bending etc is cardio. Anyone know what to put for this??

You exert force with every day things so I'm sure you're working your muscles. I'd probably log it as a combination of gardening and "moving household objects." There's also chopping wood in there as well. Just remember they're all only estimates.

I just log it as "gardening." MFP calorie burn estimates are high for gardening anyway so it'll probably be close to correct.

Yes thought also it was high for gardening but then again it depends on what you are doing I am landscaping so there is a little more involed than just digging and planting flowers and weeding etc Lifting rocks into wheelburrow and moving it up a hill to the house across the street and same with logs , wood , gravel , think you are getting a better work out than in any gym :)

The only way to really tell for sure (or atleast 90% accuracy) is to get a Bodymedia FIT or Bodybugg, wear it and do your normal activity including your gardening. It will tell you how many calories you burned. You can't really rely on MFP for these things. It's very inaccurate.
