You people realize you watch fake TV shows and fake movies all the time and don't bat an eyelash about it, right? Wrestling is like a Bruce Lee martial arts movie, not professional football. Approach it like that and you might not have a heart attack when you see something that wasn't realistic. It still hurts like hell and they're on the road 200+ days out of the year. At least have some respect for that.
Non-wrestling fans: Missing the point since the 1980s
And no I dont respect them, especially since they are such a bad influence on our youth. Yeh a fake head slap hurts but not near as a bad as getting punched for real by a UFC fighter or getting drilled by a linebacker during an NFL game.
Bad parenting is a bad influence on a youth. Not wrestiling. And if about of dorks walking around the grass slapping a tiny ball with a stick every 20 minutes like in golf is a sport, then a choreographed fight between tow 300 lb men who have to run, flip, punch and lift eachother over their heads is a sport as well.

2. They've had a strict wellness policy for quite a few years now. Funnily enough, more football players and MMA fighters get busted for steroids than wrestlers these days.
3. Not all wrestling is the same. There is classy and intelligent wrestling to be found even in WWE.
4. No. Just no. You have no idea what you are talking about now. The number of former athletes are vastly outnumbered by ordinary people who got into the business because they were passionate fans. Not all former athletes were push overs, either (e.g. Kurt Angle, Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjamin, etc.)
2. There all on steriods!!! Your a fool if you think other wise!! Yes a few NFL players and MMA fighters get busted for banned substances every year, but they have very strict testing policies but fake wrestling doesnt. Its also an insult to compare the best athletes in the world ( NFL players & UFC fighters) to WWE actors.
3. Where???? maybe to children and adults who have the IQ. of children
4. Kurt Angle tried MMA and failed, Brock tried out for the Vikings and not only got cut but got beat up in practice. He did well in the UFC. until he fought guys his own size and then got embarressed. Shelton Benjamin??? Who is that.0 -
CENA FTW!! LOL0

They're all on steroids? That's a pretty substantial claim right there. With the exception of Batista, I can't think of one of them that is freakishly large - all the others have physiques they've worked on for years and which are perfectly achievable with enough time and dedication. I also disagree with your proclamation that NFL players are the best athletes in the world - I would think the athletes that compete in the Olympics every four years trump them. UFC fighters are exceptionally fit, granted, but I don't know that they're MORE fit than some WWE wrestlers - The Rock, Rey Mysterio, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi Kingston and Triple H come to mind. And so what if they're actors? Lifting a 250+lb anything, let alone person, takes an immense amount of strength.0 -

1. Meaning you're going to need some evidence to back up that massive generalization of both parents and children in this country.
2. Again, [Citation Needed]. Virtually all wellness test violations in recent years have involved marijuana, synthetic marijuana, medicine they weren't subscribed to, etc. "WWE actors"? Stop being such a foolish manchild. Can you not get it through your skull that I'm not attacking your precious NFL or MMA? I'm a fan of both of those sports.
^ He is the WWE Champion. Hardly on steroids. In fact, he's so proud about being straight edge that he has it tattooed across his stomach. Even most wrestlers in WWE, which at one time was made up mostly of steroid users, are no larger than him.
3. You're not even willing to give the most mainstream wrestling company in the world five seconds of your viewing time, let alone five seconds of a google search to research your position. What makes you think it'd be worth it suggesting another company to you.
4. Kurt Angle won an Olympic Gold Medal in amateur wrestling (with a broken freaking neck, as his phrase goes). The other three were also very good amateur wrestlers. At least do a five second google search before you argue about things you have no idea about.
A list of former NFL players to have wrestled. Some only did one-time appearances, while some were full-time wrestlers and had great careers (namely Wahoo McDaniel): http://prowrestling.about.com/od/historyofwrestling/tp/football.htm0 -
^That. I'm not a fan of WWE, but my husband daughter are. Her favorite wrestler is CM Punk and that is where she heard about the straight edge movement from. So thanks to CM Punk's terrible influence, I have an 18 year old daughter who doesn't drink, smoke or do drugs, despite the fact that she has friends that do things like bring alcohol to school in water bottles. She got to meet him at Comic Con and he was kind enough to stop and talk to her about it.2. There all on steriods!!! Your a fool if you think other wise!! That picture is my daughter and CM Punk. My 5'0", 108 lb, teenage daughter. Look how massive he is standing with her! I can see how you would think "there" all on steroids. :huh:0 -
the hubby is watching it, so i kinda have to endure it ..lol0

I'm a HUGE wrestling fan. I really hate how it gets a bad rap. I worked in the independent wrestling circuit, and I can tell you that while it is SCRIPTED. It's not all fake. For instance, in one my spots, I was to kick one of the wrestlers outside of the ring. Let me tell you...I didn't go easy on the guy.
Also, you take a Swanton Bomb and tell me that doesn't hurt...0 -
I'm not paying for the PPVs and I don't view it as a sporting event. Blame the OP. I call it what it actually is: pro wrestling.
It's not the slaps that hurt, it's taking several hundred back bumps a night, two hundred nights on the road a year that hurt. Also, you can't really fake a slap. Not unless you want it to be completely silent. There is real contact there.
The fact that you think it's a contest between those three about which hurt more shows just how much you're missing the point. Wrestling is supposed to be about athleticism, drama, and spectacle, not a demolition derby. I like football, MMA, and pro wrestling. All three hurt physically and all three should take measures to increase the safety for their athletes.
THANK YOU! I've had my handprint on many wrestlers' cheeks before. It's all a show. It's called "sports entertainment" for a reason. These are highly trained professionals busting their *kitten* 300+ days a year. It's definitely not injury-free, as I can definitely tell you...0 -
gotta luv it!!!!0 -

Definitely. While I can see why people don't see the appeal, I simply cannot tolerate the amount of disrespect that is shown to wrestling by non-fans. I'm not into theater, ballet, baseball, golf, swimming, and many other forms of sports and entertainment, but in virtually all of the ones that come to mind I can acknowledge that a great deal of hard work and dedication goes into the job. Why is pro wrestling different in this country when we all go home and watch television shows and movies with stunt people that may get injured doing things that genuinely hurt most of the time?
