Low milk supply from weight loss

So my DD turns one on Wednesday and I've started introducing her to whole milk and almond milk (hoping to eventually only give her some dairy products and have her drink the almond milk). I've been donating my milk so my own stash right now is very low. Maybe 30 bags if that. I wanted to save at least one more box worth of milk (I dont track ounces, sorry), but my supply's been going down a LOT. I know its because I've been losing weight faster than what is usually recommended for lactating mothers, but I don't know if I should try and work to get my supply up so I can get those bags filled or if I should try and wean her faster or what. I feel so stuck because on one hand I want to stop pumping, but on the other, I want to keep giving her my milk. Advice??

If you want to increase your supply try eating a bit more. Not sure what you are eating in a day but you can add calories for breastfeeding (there is an option in the food tracker which subtracts calories). If you aren't getting the proper nutrients your supply will go down.

I was in the same situation...and eating almonds is recommended. Also health food stores have tea...not sure what it's called, maybe Mother's tea? that helps with lactation. Good luck!

Are you drinking enough water? Limiting caffiene? I know that when I was nursing my youngest when he was about 14 months that I started slacking on the fluids and my supply dropped FAST. I was also drinking too much Diet Coke!!

Good luck. I remember those nursing days!

I allot myself 200 extra calories for breastfeeding (I exclusively pump and am doing three sessions a day) I drink between 8 and 12 glasses of water each day and don't drink caffeine. Perhaps I will try and eat more calories and just wait until I am completely finished with the breastfeeding to really focus on losing weight!

I suffered from pretty low milk supply (unrelated to weight), but if you are thinking about supplements to increase your milk supply the only thing that really worked for me was More Milk Plus by Motherlove. I noticed a difference in supply in about 1-2 days and if I didn't take the pills consistently then I knew!
