How long do you...

I have a question... If you have reached your calorie limit for the day and you are having a craving for a certain unhealthy food, how long do you tell yourself to wait (to see if the craving passes)?

Example: I want Ice Cream. I'm going to wait 20 minutes and see if this passes.

How do you get it off your mind? It's like so consuming!

It is my goal to be within my calorie limit for the whole month of April and it's tough...

Helppp.....

I don't wait to see if it'll pass instead I'll either eat an apple or go brush my teeth. Both work in curbing that craving for me.

have 3 bites of the thing you want, then wait 20 minutes. The craving should be gone and you got to enjoy what you were craving (this comes from Jillian Michaels and it sounds totally reasonable)

    drink some water
brush your teeth (nothing tastes good right after you brush)
or for me I will sit and knit lol can`t eat if my hands are busy with the knitting needles
or if I really really want that item I`ll go work out then have it

It takes a lot of practice to come up with the mind tricks needed to say "no" to those moments.

I don't let my mind seize on something like that anymore. But it took quite a while to learn to do. Be tough. Be strong. You don't need it.

I just have a big glass of water. If i drink it really fast it tends to fill me up. Make sense?

Sometimes the best thing for me is to just go DO something and distract myself. Most of the time when I want more calories it is because I'm spending too much time thinking about them. But if DO something that burns calories, I may build up enough to eat some of the thing I want ... IF I still want it. (Win/win!)

I haven't had any really strong cravings like that for a long time....mine are more like I wanna have some "ice cream" in the next few days I think. But when I did have them like that i'd go for a long walk or jog, make a phone call to someone I should have called a week ago or something. Anything to get it off my mind. Drink water. Go to bed if it's close to bed time.

Make a mug of tea and drink it and usually curbs my crave
