Running and Smoking?

I got my run in for the day. 5k in 36 min. Not my best, but I can't complain. At least I did it, and didn't use TOM as an excuse. I will get stronger and faster. One thing I will never understand is someone jogging and then lighting a cigarette when they are done. But, today, I saw a woman jogging WHILE smoking!!! What is the point? I'm jogging to get fit and be healthier. Are they trying to fill their lungs with smoke faster?

    LOL that is silly.

Oh well. I say better to smoke and run than smoke and sit on the couch.

Lol. I used to be a casual smoker if I drank on weekends. Man, I couldnt run for a few days after that!

When I ran my first 10k while on vacation up in Alaska, I was surprised to see a man at the very beginning, smoking as he ran. I used to have a neighbor who ran daily, and she'd always start off her run with a lit cig in her mouth, and then light up again as soon as she finished.
  • I was laughing about a couple this morning walking laps at the park for exercise and smoking. But, I forget...I used to run and smoke. I quit over 10 years ago, but I used to run marathons and take smoke breaks. I know...stupid! I didn't run for health, though - I ran because I loved the feeling. I finally stopped smoking when it started affecting my breathing.

Haha wow. Well, maybe she is trying to quit but hasn't had any success yet. Or she could just be exercising to be skinny or because she just likes running, not because of health. I think a lot of people exercise either for looks or health, not always both. I used to go exercise and had to have a cigarette right after. This was before when I was too scared to quit and was trying to lose weight.
