Perimenapausal?

My grandma hit menapause early. I'm 37, bad headaches, fatigue, weight goes up & down if I don't constantly stay OCD about what goes in my mouth it goes up & down, moody, hot then cold...TOM seems to be severe cramps & bleeding but only 3-4 days...sometimes right on time...other times up to a week & a half late...I'm sure I'm missing other things that are going on with my body...but is this what's happening?

  • From what you describe it could be but it could be other things as well so it might be good to get a medical check up, just to be sure. You can get a blood test that can tell you whether you are approaching menopause.

Hi Im 43 and have had a premature menopause. I was menopausal for quite a while without realising it. One of my main symptoms was waking in the night with night sweats, where my pyjamas would be drenched, like Id just stepped out a swimming pool! The hot and cold thing as well, one minute Id go hot then 10 mins later Id feel chilly and shivvery. With me I thought I had glandular fever with all the night sweats as my partner was recovering from glandular fever so I requested a blood test, and doc checked for hormone levels at the same time. I also had a massive weight gain, Im talking 30lb within 2 months so at that time I was having thyroid checks too.

Where Im at right now is: periods, sometimes 2 in one month and then sometimes I would skip a month. Slightly heavier periods. Lasting 4 days or so. Need a pee all the time, feel like I have PMT alot, times of feeling low and depressed and sleeplessness. It really is worth getting a blood test. Mine showed I was fully into the menopause I dont think perimenopause would show up, but in view of the fact you have a family history of early menopause its really worth checking. I had night sweats for years so I could have been in meonpause since my late 30s without realising! Good luck and dont worry too much!

Please don't get your solid answer off the net. Its ok for getting an idea of what going on, but you need to get checked out by a doctor. Make a appointment. X
