I weigh 135 pounds, and hoping to get down to 125. For the past month I have been exercising at least five times a week for at least on hour or more, doing both cardio and strength training. I eat fairly normally but with fitness pal its easier to watch my consumption. Any ideas on helping get the last 10...I seem to have plateaued in the last month.
Suggestions please!

I think if you are going to exercise for that long, you may need to up your calories a bit. I have heard that works.

How do you feel? How do your clothes fit? Remember muscle weighs less than fat. Are you taking time off from exercise? Your muscles need the rest...if they are always "stretched" out this is not good.

I totally understand the frustration...sometimes when I don't put as much thought into it the pounds come off. Crazy but true.

No suggestions but 135 pounds! Holy cow! I can't remember the last time I weighed 135 pounds! (meaning I weigh waaaaayyyyy more than that now.) Good luck to you though.

True, you may have gained muscle so take measurements instead...I was dissapointed this morning when I gained one pound instead of losing but my clothes are fitting better and I have lost 2 inches off my waist!! But I completely understand you, my goal is to weigh 130 and I weighed 141 this morning...

Also, have you changed your workouts? Your body may have gotten used to the same old exercises. Circuit training and plyometrics can do wonders...

    Good luck!!!
  • Hi Monica
I do some triathlons and other races so if I might throw my own opinion in-it might help-might not! I found when I plateau-I need to speed up my metabolism by eating more frequently and changing my work out routine a little. Your body gets used to the same exercise very quickly so you need to do intervals to bring your heart rate up and down through out your exercise. This challenges your body and you'll burn more fat. for example-if you're on a treadmill going 6mph-after a good warm up-either increase your speed for 1-4 minutes or raise your elevation to where it's a challenge(you can lower your speed while you do that)- -then totally recover by going at at a very slow pace. Do a few of these intervals during your workout and you'll notice later that you have a lot more energy for harder workouts. I do intervals in every sport I do (running, swimming and cycling) Working out with weights in addition to cardio helps a lot, too. Congrats on your weight loss! Have fun losing those last 10 lbs-but don't worry so much about the weight-your bodyfat and your tape measure tell the best story. Hope you don't mind my advice but it really works for me! Good Luck!
