Still not quite getting it.
Im 5'3", currently 124 lbs..trying to get to 115 lbs, or at least look like it, by losing inches.
I have my goal set to lose .5 lbs a week, with daily light activity. Therefore, I am allowed 1450 calories a day..is this too much, too little?

Should my "net" calories be around a certain amount to lose weight, considering, I pretty much do cardio 6 days a week?
Please help:/ I calculated my bmr, which is 1391.8 & my tdee, which is 2390..if that helps:/

Someone has been reading through the forums - excellent job!
And you got it actually. You are probably thinking you've seen so much confusion on it, you couldn't possibly have it right, but you do.

Selecting an activity level and weight loss goal so suggested NET goal is above your BMR.

Figuring out more accurate TDEE so you know that 2390 - 1450 = 940 deficit or almost 1lb week in reality, no matter what MFP says.

Since you are holding such a fine line above your BMR, and if working out that much you probably have more muscle than avg gal, so BMR is probably actually higher.
So suggest you really eat back all exercise calories per HRM hopefully. If no HRM, then 80% of estimates that are more intense than walking (which is pretty accurate).

Just know that exercise is for body shaping and heart health.
Diet is for weight loss. Exercise can make it easier or harder.

Fat loss, by inches, is what will probably be seen mostly since you are feeding your workouts allowing your body to get stronger.
In fact, as your muscles need to store more energy, expect weight gain as glucose and water are stored, even as inches melt away.

So my "net" should be as close to my daily goal of 1450, without going over, to lose weight then right?

Your daily goal is actually called Net on your Goals page, so correct.

And as soon as you log exercise, and are given credit for it, and your Daily Goal goes up, you'll see that it is truly a NET figure.

Now, only log true workouts, not lawn mowing, not walking slower than 3mph, not cleaning, ect. Those are all daily activity, part of the calories between BMR and TDEE that you are actually creating a deficit with.
Exercise though needs feeding, but not the daily stuff that draws mainly from fat stores anyway.

Should I have any "calories remaining?"
