I'm new on here - UK

Hi everyone. Looking to keep motivated. I started using the MFP app in January and have lost 22lbs so far. After going away for a few days I put a massive six pounds back on. I was gutted as I didn't think I ate too badly and walked everywhere for miles! So needless to say I'm looking for people like me who need that extra push. I've just turned 27, 5'3 and I still need to lose at least 160lbs (huge, I know). I've been big my whole life and have started and failed pretty much every diet or lifestyle change I've tried. When I started calorie counting in January I decided that this was going to be the last time I started a diet. I am not giving up this time. I will not stop until I reach my target weight. However sometimes I need a kick up the bum to keep going! :)

I don't really get much exercise in my office job, but have an exercise bike at home which I'm going to use more often. Also it would be nice to have a few friends along the way as I don't really have anyone other than my boyfriend. I've told him I won't get married until I can stand having a photo taken of me so I really need to keep going!

Always open to tips and suggestions, although I'm quite well versed in most aspects of health after reading up on most topics.

I think my favourite tool for weight loss has been my Vitamix blender and green smoothies for breakfast.

Thanks for reading
Debbie

Hope to speak to people soon! (Sorry, not good with introductions :$)

  • Hi there, I'm new on here too, just signed up on Saturday! Like you i'm quite well educated in healthy lifestyle but I just fail puttingit into practice sometimes! I'm 44, 5'2 and need to lose at least 17lbs but more importantly for me I need to get exercising again (which I did yesterday - yay!).

I like in Kent. i kind of get the picture that there are more Americans & Canadians on this site but I've noticed there are lots of UK food brands/supermarkets on the food lists so thats good.

Anyway just thought I'd say hello and be happy to be friends on here if you want!

    Jo.

    Hi Debbie,

I am 46, 5ft 3, from Wales and need to lose quite a few pounds. I have been on here since end of February and have lost 8.4 lbs so far. This is a great site and there are loads of people who are friendly and helpful, from UK and USA. I have sent a friend request so if you want some support and the opportunity to look at someone else's diary to see what they eat and what works for them then you can accept the request.
  • Im also new. REcently had breast cancer surgery and trying to watch what i eat and lose some unneeded weight. Having cancer showed me the price of life and how I want to eat better and stay around with my children. any advice out there would sure be appreciated.

Hi Julz, hope you feel better soon and everything goes ok. The only thing I can think of is maybe avoid soy as there is some speculation on how soy affects female hormones. I don't think anything has been proven either way but just thought I'd let you know.
