Hi, Been here since February and have found I am quite tired all the time since on 1200 cals a day. I'm not hungry, just tired all the time. Also quite nauseas after cycling to work. Is it the diet? Is anyone else experiencing the same thing and found a way to combat this?

Why don't you try upping your calories a bit? You won't lose weight as quickly, but it'll be safer (not to mention easier to stick with it), if you don't feel tired and nauseous all the time. You could also be lacking vitamins or nutrients. If it continues, go see a doctor since it could seriously be anything.

If you want advice about the foods your eating and/or the amounts, please make your food diary public.

it's public now. I wasn't able to log for the last 3/4 days. The weeks before are mostly filled in.

Oh and I do eat my most of my cycling cals back.
  • Two things come to mind about fatique. One is dehydration will make you tired. So watch fluid intake. The second thing is whenever you cycle add more calories to your daily intake. When I cycle for one hour at around 10 mph (slow) I get to add 400 calories to my 1200. So eat more when you ride. Thats the beauty of it.

You may not be getting enough nutrition, and you may need to re-adjust what you are eating.

Do you know your BMR and TDEE?

MFP is a great site and I love it's tracking facility, but when it comes to calculating deficits, it is just a fancy calculator that simply deducts 250, 500, 750 etc depending on what you chose, and that is not helped by the fact that the users often input the wrong info, particularly activity levels and aggressive target losses.

I was recently suffering from horrendous fatigue and got really quite worried at one point. I took a break from exercise. I found it wasn't the amount of food I was eating as eating more did no difference (I'm on way more than 1200 anyway) but I was quite iron and vitamin deficient. After two weeks of rest and supplements I feel much better, but try some iron supplements (I also take a barratt's 'Daily energiser' of B vitamns and Q10 which noticeably helps) and make sure you stay hydrated. I would recommend switching to say 1400 cals too for a week or so to gauge any improvement. If there is no difference after a fortnight then go to your doctor. x

BMR is 1474 calories. What is TDEE?

Thanks I actually thought about Vitamin B. I think I may be anaemic. Will go get some Vitamins after work. Am taking Omega 3 and Calcium with Vit D at the moment. I do drink a lot of water during the day. I mostly forget to log it.
