Foot Cramps

Looking for some answers here...
It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does, it pretty much sucks. And I have to stop my workout! (Just for a minute).
The arch of my foot (could be one or the other, usually not both) and my toes cramp during workouts sometimes. I am drinking enough water and eating a banana a day. (The banana may be an old wives tale but they are tasty and healthy, so who cares?)
I know that it could be my shoes. They are walking shoes (I think), and they are in good condition. I do a variety of plyo, weights, and side to side cardio moves using Jillian Michaels circut training videos. I have also recently started a run/walk mix. If you think I need different shoes, can you make a suggestion as to what type? I can't really afford new shoes, but if I must buy them, I can only buy one pair.
Could it be something else?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hmmm, my guess would be the shoes. If you can get another pair, I would look for a running shoe or a cross trainer for the type of exercise you are doing.0

I have had this problem for probably all of my life. I can remember this happening since I was a kid. I have boney feet with long toes. My toes and foot sometimes go into a cramped pose that hurts, but is more annoying than anything else. I've gotten use to it. Sometimes I can just stamp my foot down on a hard surface a few times to get rid of it and move on. If it happens when I don't have shoes on, placing my foot on a very cold surface (bathroom floor, tub) will get it to stop quickly. I've never addressed the issue with a medical doctor and I'm over 40 years old. It's just something I've lived with.0
