Question: Should I change my weight loss goal?

My lean body mass is 125. I think my goal of 120 is unrealistic, the site I was on said that for girls anything below 20% body fat is not healthy, if I was 21% body fat I'd be 152. I am thinking of making that number my goal instead of 120, and I'm basing that on my lean body mass and the 21% body fat. I'd be in the overweight category of my BMI because from 101 to 139 i believe it is is a healthy weight range for my height. but I'd be close to my healthy BMI. But I'm not for sure.

thanks.

Edit: I'm 5'2. I weigh 197 right now.

Your probably going to weight more, but look great, because of all the workouts you do!

I want to be 135, but later on down the road if I gain weight due to strength training im so ready for it.

thanks, I'm really considering just upping the weight goal. I do not mind if I weigh more because of muscle. and already I had decided that I didn't want to be skinny, I want to be fit, which there is a difference :)

As you are losing weight, depending on what you are doing in the process of losing the lean body number is likely to go down too. Preserving as much of that as you can will be one thing you want to work on. A lot of people lose can body mass on the way down and then don't like what they look like. Some refer to this as "skinny fat." Basically means lower weight but still too high of a body fat %. Usually resistance training is what is needed to preserve the lean body mass numbers you are talking about.

Have you considered setting smaller goals and then reassessing things once you hit each small goal? I started with a goal of 25-30 lbs since that would get me to a weight I was maintained for a while. But, once I got to that weight I realized I could lose more.

I actually never had a final goal of 40-45 lbs lost. It wasn't until I hit each small goal that I realized what I was capable of. Also, I didn't want to set myself up for failure either. I haven't weight what I do now in years (probably since high school). I wanted to set goals that I knew I could achieve, because I didn't want to give up if I never got to a certain weight.

I think I'll do what you, adswillis27, suggested and reevaluate my weight when I get to 150.
