Light it up blue today! Autism Speaks is shining a light on Autism Awareness today. To see some of the places that are lit up blue or learn more about this initiative, check out

Autism is a developmental disorder that affects 1 in 88 boys, according to the most recent CDC data. Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, and by restricted and repetitive behavior. It is one of three recognized disorders in the autism spectrum (ASDs), the other two being Asperger syndrome, which lacks delays in cognitive development and language, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (commonly abbreviated as PDD-NOS), which is diagnosed when the full set of criteria for autism or Asperger syndrome are not met.

I personally am fortunate to know many kids and families touched by autism, so I will be lighting it up blue all day! I'm wearing blue, emailing in blue, and have changed the lightbulbs in my home and office to blue. What will you be doing??

There is no cure for autism. So why not raise some awareness, show your support for the children and families, and light it up blue for World Autism Awareness Day!!
