Meal Plan

I was recently diagnosed as having Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS). The Dr. gave me a diet plan to follow but it has a recommended total calories of 1976 per day. I would think that would be below my Basal Metabolic rate. Could this be because the hormonal problems make losing weight much slower than other people? I am 6 feet tall and currently weigh around 292.I take dance classes(similar to Zumba) twice per week, Yoga once, and will begin adding weights into the mix next week.

Thanks for any ideas anyone may have.

My initial reaction is that yes maybe you could eat a little more because that might be lower than your BMR, but probably not much lower. Do you know if he/she took into consideration the exercise you do? Maybe you could stick close to that goal but on days you burn a lot from the dance class, eat back those calories.

Thanks for the response. I think she just looks at my size sometime. Now I am not so scared.
