Recently I was given CON-CRET Creatine, I am looking to gain lean muscle so I used it once and felt like I had a great workout on it but people have been telling me I am going to gain a load of water weight so I am not going to continue taking it until I know some personal experiences, if anyone has any please let me know :) Thanks.

I've never personally taken creatine and instead I go with the old whey protein powder, chicken, and fish. I've completely cut out red meat and pork. I've lost weight and gained strength and definition.

I'm currently reading up on creatine, I haven't made my mind up about it yet, although I regularly took it for about 3 months last year. My experiences were that it largely increased my endurance in the gym, enabling me to work out for longer without muscle fatigue.

I recently read an article by Men's Health magazine, in which a doctor answered frequently asked questions. One of them was about the water weight issue. Apparently normal, healthy muscle is up to 75% water anyway, so you'd expect this much of the gain to be water. The doctor indicated that muscle water retention was only slightly altered and the gains in the subjects studied were mostly muscle, with the usual amount of water contained therein.

I'm continuing to read up about it, and look forward to reading other MFP users' views.
  • My ex took creatine for a while and while it does do what it says on the tin, it messed with his body clock he wasn't able to sleep and it made him really paranoid!
