So  I've been wondering, is it best to eat before I exercise, or after?

I work out first thing in the morning before I eat.
  • Yeah? I exercised before I ate today, and by the time I was done, I was so super starving that even after I ate my english muffin, I was STILL starving. I just wanted to eat more but don't want to waste my calories for today (I plan all my meals in the morning) by eating more. Could this be averted if I eat before I exercise?

Depends on a lot of things...when you are doing it what you are doing how long you are doing it.
I do 45 minutes cardio early in the morning and often I'm hungry when I wake up or just need something to make sure I can make it thru the workout with out boking...so I usually have a banana or a little organic peanut butter on wheat toast.

I always exercise first. We are at the gym before 6 AM. On weekends, because we go a little later, I usually have a small snack like half a Clif Bar before I go

I ride my bike for a half hour in the morning before I eat breakfast. After I get home from work I exercise (cardio & strength training) anywhere from 40-80min, then I eat dinner. This system works pretty well for me because (generally) I don't feel much like exercising after I have a meal.
  • So it seems like a little snack before hand is the key...
    Thanks everyone!!
