Can you keep this up forever?

I asked something like this on my facebook page today.
Whatever you are doing now - what you are eating..... the fitness level you have.... your entire lifestyle - do you think you can do this for the rest of your life?
When you are old - you may not be able to run a 5 minute mile - but will you still be running? Or whatever exercise you are doing now? Will you always put in the same amount of time and effort?
for me - if the answer is "no" - I have to assess if what I am doing is really a lifestyle change or a temporary one. If I am starving myself, I will never keep that up forever. If I am running myself into the ground with my workouts, that will never be kept up forever.
I feel it is a good rule of thumb if you are doing the right thing if you can say "yeah - give or take a few changes, I can see myself doing this forever!"

I feel the attitude and effort will be there as I have made the life change. Not a fad change. I am here to stay.0

not thinking that far ahead. my weight loss goals have been 5lb increments just to see where this takes me. as for exercise-which I don't do regularly.... the hips are already not so good... and are only gonna get worse..0

I feel like I can keep my eating habits up forever. I have switched to eating less processed foods, more fruits and veggies, using whole ingredients and cooking from scratch. I love the way I eat now and how it makes me feel. And I still allow myself "junk" now and then.
The exercise part - right now (at 28 years old) I have the energy to do very intense exercise. I don't think I will keep that up forever, but I do think I will be exercising for a very long time. It makes me feel good!0 -
I will keep it up for as long as I am able to. The benefits to me and my kids (I dont include my hubs because he can eat anything he wants and not gain anything. Even at 38!) are to great to go back. And only after 2 1/2 months I can tell my kids are already making better choices. They will grab fruit now instead of asking for a cookie. Plus hearing my 8 year daughter say "Mom, you are looking so much thinner!" is better than anything else in the world!!0
