So a great big Hello to all of you! I'm glad to be a part of this great place. I came here for the food diary like Monday or Tuesday of this week. Have been logging ever since & lurking in the boards. LUV IT!
I've not been overweight my entire life, however I can remember weighing 118 in HS & being able to lift more with my legs than the boys on the football team (I was a cheerleader). I was in PERFECT shape & my cheer coach was telling me that I was a "big boned Base" which to me = fat.
Well, big boned ended up being FAT after all.
I'm 36, smoked a pack a day & weighed close to 200lbs (I'm 5' 6").
Had a dr. appt a couple of weeks ago & he said your lung volume is low. Long story short, after lots of tests, I find out that I have COPD.
36 & COPD........something is definitely wrong with this picture.
So, I saw Tony Horton on an infomercial on Memorial Day morning at 4 am & ordered P90X!
Ummm....was I being crazy or what - I'm a couch slug not an athlete!!
Well, well, turns out I'm a lot better off than I thought cuz I passed the fit test & today was my first day of P90X!
I've also been taking Chantex for a week & today was my 7th day - also happened to be the day I ran out of cigarettes, so since I'm getting healthy & all - I didn't buy anymore!
So, I officially quit smoking at 3:30 pm today!
And lo & behold, I've lost 4 lbs this week!! I've been eating better. I've been doing a light cardio while waiting on the P90X to come in. And, I feel great!
So, all good news...
Thanks for listening!

Welcome! We have an ongoing P90X thread here if you'd like to join us: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/54895-p90x-starting-a-new-thread ... we like to check in every workout and it's a good place to get questions answered or find support.
Jeremy, P90X is an extreme fitness system designed to get atheletes in top physical shape. Of course there are also non-atheletes like us who aren't in any shape what-so-ever and tackle the system anyway, hehe. Committment and motivation can go a long way! But it does the job and people who stick with it end up with amazing transformations.0 -
Yvette - Good for you! No time like the present to get healthy! I've done about 4 rounds of P90X, you'll love it. Stick with the nutrition, that's truly the toughest part. Good luck, can't wait to hear an update on your fitness/lung function in a few months.

Me too! So, I'm here if you need me. How are you doing? Did you get something to help or are you disciplined enough to do it alone? I'm not! The chantex is helping though!0

Sounds like you're on your way to a happy, HEALTHY life! Way to go!0

Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
Just an update...it's now Monday. Still no cigarette since Friday @ 3:30pm. They say it takes 3 days for the "leftover" nicotine to leave your body so I'll be officially "nicotine free" today @ 3:30! I'm so proud of myself for this! I had been a smoker for 20 yrs. We even went out for cocktails Sat. night & I was afraid I'd want to smoke, but I didn't! They say that's the ultimate test.
The total weight loss for last week was 6 pounds! I'm so siked about that!
I did my exercises everyday from Tuesday on last week, except for Sunday (I will probably take Sundays off anyway, but I was actually sick yesterday).
And, I'm actually looking forward to them! I can't believe that!
Thanks again everyone for being a part of me changing my life!0
