Insane cravings and gaining back weight :(

What could be causing these cravings? Maintenance seems impossible.

Over the past 5 months I dieted and dropped about 20 lbs. I'm 5'1 1/2 and went from 125 lbs to 102. Well last month I had some crazy binge episodes, like 5,000 calorie days. It was dreadful. I gained 2 lbs, so now I weigh 104 and I feel hungry all the time. I usually eat around 1800 calories a day, yet I still feel like I'm starving. Food is all I think about, it's all I want. I'm just so hungry. But I would like to weigh 100 lbs. I just want to these 4 lbs and then maintain at 100.

What should I do? I exercise 5 days a week for an hour, usually run a few miles and go on the elliptical. I eat no processed foods; only whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and fish. I couldn't be healthier. This food doesn't fill me up though; I feel broken.

Well, you're 5'1" and 104 pounds. Your BMI is 19.1, which is within the "normal weight" range but very close to being underweight.

To answer your question, you've got a four options.

    1) Eat different food. What different food? Sorry, but I don't know. Maybe someone else can chime in on foods that are more filling.
    2) Work out less. Then perhaps your body won't have such high cravings for food. Unless you need to..
    3) Work out more. Then you can eat more food and not gain. Or...
    4) Live with it. You're already dangerously close to being underweight. Maybe this is your body's way of saying "Hey, knock it off. This isn't Ethiopia, and I refuse to live like it is."

Most people end up regaining the weight they lose (I think it's close to 95%). There are lots of studies on this, basically your body has a set point and it's trying to get back to it.

Sorry I don't think I can be much help except say try to control the cravings and keep up the exercise
