So I have been playing with the ratio of what I am eating to see if I can jump-start my metabolism. Anyways was curious as to what you all use as your goals for carbs? The MFP limits do seem high..and I noticed I was eating more carbs than probably I should :)

And protein..if I go to the USDA site it says I only need 6 ounces of protein a day..seems low to me..how many grams do u all aim for?

Fat I try to stay 35 grams or below, eating between 1600-1800 calories..again the MFP limits seem high to me.

opinions are appreciated :)

It seems I've been told a 30/30/40 split is good. I think it was 40 carbs, 30 protein and 30 fat (that seems really high for fat!). In mine I'm doing 40% protein, 40% carbs and 20% fat to see how it works. I've been losing approximately a lb a week. I'm not that great of an exerciser, but getting better -about 4 times a week now. And I have to admit, wine is a few hundred of my calories for the evening. But that split works okay. You should play with it and see what works for you.

    Just switched to 40/40/20 :)

I was at 40/40/20, but this week I am going to try 30/40/30. I noticed the more carbs I eat the more carbs I crave. My first week on 40/40/20 I lost close to 6lbs. I would encourage you play with the numbers and see what works best for you. Protein will keep you fuller longer.

    Best of luck!

%'s are silly, because everyone's intake calories are so different. 40% carbs for me is a lot, whereas 40% carbs for someone who only eats 1200 per day is not.

40% carbs for someone who isn't a big protein person is a good goal I think..I just need to lose the rest of this weight and haven't lost in a long time..actually gained..i haven't found a good dietitian so I was trying to do myself..

your macro priority break down should be, protein / fat / carbs. follow the link, it gives some great info about how to figure you macro numbers.

Bump. I also struggle with finding the right percentage. My goal is to build muscle and lose fat. I still have between 20-30 pounds I'd like to lose, but my weight loss has slowed tremendously.
