Long term goals. I just keep moving forward the best I can.

mix it up! find a new exercise. look up some new recipes. i get bored easily so i have to always be doing something different. zumba, step. walking, biking, hiking, etc. try to find a challenge also, half marathon, mudd run, tri, whatever you are into, dance competition whatever! something that will push you towards your goals. we are hiking down to phantom ranch at the grand canyon in a month and i know I dont want to have to carry any extra weight so it is helping me to try to stay on track!

You have to really want it. If you are just getting bored, determine why you don't fell motivated. Do you feel hungry or deprived? Remember, this is a slow process, so you can still have cheat meals. Or, you can still eat those "guilty pleasure foods" as long as they still fit within your calorie goal. Don't expect the weight to fall off at once.

I stopped relying on motivation. It always ran out.

What I do have is a good work ethic. it's helped my career, made me a good mom, etc. I needed to apply that work ethic to my health. I wouldn't dare allow myself to fail at anything due to a poor work ethic. It's what will keep you going even if you are tired, sore, burnt out or simply bored.

I always tell people to sign up for a race that is in a sport that you like (for me, it was triathlons because I wouldn't get bored with training). BUT, and this is important.... make sure that it is a big enough investment $$$$$ wise that it becomes important to you, and you don't want to waste your money by not finishing or not doing it.

For me, my big race that made me stick with it was a triathlon that cost me 95 dollars to enter. So, leading up to the tri, I did a couple 5K's that were like 20 bucks here and there.... but if I would have made those my "help me stick with it" goals... I would've quit because there was no financial "hurt" if I didn't do it....

Hope this helps you get motivated!

ALSO--- start out slower than you think! That way you GRADUALLY incorporate it into your life and it becomes a lifestyle change. :)

I create monthly or 6 week challenges for myself for exercise and food. For example this month:

    1. Quite the clean plate club and eat more mindfully
    2. Add 1500m to my longest rowing distance
    3. Do intervals weekly with 12 seconds on/8 seconds rest
    4. Do time trials for a 5000m row and a 3.2mi walk
    5. Finish 200 squats
    6. Cut down on weekend cheats

    Last month I aimed to:
    1. eat leafy greens every day
    2. eat 2 different veggies every night for dinner
    3. Do a weekly rowing sprint
    4. Try a kettlebell workout
    5. Find new at home workouts for rainy days (and do them)

I've been on my weightloss campaign for 19 months now and the main thing that has kept me going is always having the next short term fitness goal in mind. I have never set weightloss goals, I just count my calories and exercise regularly and the weight just takes care of itself. Early last year I did the "Couch to 5k" program and that gave me small goals each week with the longer term goal of running for 30 minutes. Once I'd achieved that I had the goal of running a 5km fun run, then the goal became running 1km faster than I'd done it before, and so on. I am running that same fun run this May and am in training to run it faster than I did last year. Hope this helps :flowerforyou:

    Good idea. :)

This is the challenge!!! Every day is a new Plateau and to see where you go and how far you have come. If like me, its a journey, just waiting to see what's around the next turn, bend or behind that door. If I can wake up breathing, all the reason to challenge myself to do better, more. Don't just set a Goal, challenge yourself or US and the game is on. You can do it, stick it to'em.
