Starvation

My friend informed me today that he's been on an 800 calorie/day diet with not much exercise. He's starving himself. I told him to get on here and see what they recommend. He claims to not have enough time to exercise. He's lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks or so. I don't recommend what he's doing! Not healthy!

I'm worried about a couple of girls on here for have added me as friends who are eating less then 300cal a day questioning about whether or not too eat fruit because they dont know if it's 40 or 60 cal
It's making me sad that these young girls (who are already very very tiny) feel that they are not good enough and need to lose more.
I dont know what to do....0 -
I have no idea how he finds that sustainable...800 calories p/day for a man...geez. I did do this myself a year ago and sure i lost a lot of weight but there's no way I could keep it up...hence why I'm here trying to lose 10lbs again.0

I don't know what to do either... it's nice that you're concerned so much for these girls. That's good support!0 -

But how much can you keep supporting them when they know what they are doing is wrong and they know they have an ED but dont seem to want to do much or anything about it?
They are so young too... 18-20yr olds0 -
Thankfully, my tall slender 18 year old daughter avoided the food issues that faced alot of her friends. While sharing a hotel room with 3 other girls for a recent choir field trip she was appalled at how they starved themselves. After seeing how much my daughter actually eats they were shocked. They wanted to know what her secret was to maintaining her enviable body weight. She said her secret is she actually eats good food and gets plenty of rest so she has the energy to actually enjoy her life. I'm so greatful that I was able to keep her on the right track even though there were days in middle school that the "cool girls" told her if she kept eating all that fruit everyday she would become obese. Now she says "It's cool to have a smokin' hot body and still be able to eat a ton of great food 'cause I haven't screwed up my metabolism by starving myself." Too bad so many young women in our society are on a destructive path. Hopefully, they will choose to make a positive change one day and set aside their unhealthy behavior.0

I dont understand how their parents haven't done anything about it yet
I have a 17yr old stepdaughter who was born with good genes... she eats SO MUCH yet she stays really thin... i know she also eats a lot of unhealthy food rather then healthy, trying to kick her out of that habit.0
