I understand all the formulas for the BMR and all that. But I am confused with what MFP is telling me. According to what everyone is saying and my BMR results I should be eating about 1900+ calories a day to loose weight..... But MFP says I should eat 1350 if I want to loose a lb a week, 1580 if I want to loose 1/2 a lb a week and over 1800 if I want to maintain my weight (which I DON'T)....... So what do I listen to? MFP or what my BMR formula thing is telling me? I have just started about 2 weeks ago and have only lost a little over a lb and that was when I was eating a little less. So if someone could clear all this up I would really appreciate it! Oh and should I start small with calories and only up my calories if I plateau? I don't understand that part either.... Thanks all!

It sounds like your BMR calories are actually your maintenance calories; I can't tell you for sure because I don't know what formula you used. The quickest rough estimate I can give you is your weight x10 is about your BMR. Multiply that by 1.3 for a lightly active lifestyle and that is your maintenance calories. Subtract 500 calories from maintenance for each pound/week you want to lose. In my experience, MFP is usually pretty close to what these are.
You should net the number of calories it indicates for the amount of weight per week you want. If you plateau, there are a number of things you can do to help break it, including upping your calories. I'd worry about that when you get there. Otherwise, net what MFP tells you to net, and if you're still hungry, increase by 100 calories per day until you aren't hungry anymore. (Although, I'd try increasing your water intake before you up your calories...sometimes your body is just thirsty.)
Hope that helps.0
