5lbs in 5 days??????

So as of Friday 3/30 I started recording what I ate (which turned out to be over 2000 calories a day), I started getting my 45 min of cardio in and cut out ALL OF THE CRAP I ate for no reason bringing my calorie intake down by almost half. I weighed myself today because several people asked if I was loosing weight and sure enough I went from 170lbs to 165lbs.
That seems like a lot really fast... I want to be healthy and lose weight the right way and as far as I know I have been, but that's a lot. A friend said it's most likely all water weight and to continue what I've been doing the last few days, but I just want to know if any other newbies encountered this dramatic drop in the beginning of their weight loss journey???

As your body releases stored energy it also releases water which we all know weights alot. That on top of the big changes you are making it will show a big impact right away. Keep it up.0

Regardless of whether it is water weight, it sounds like you are being health concious:) I FINALLY cut out the bad carbs and am only ONLY putting good carb stuff in my body. 2 days of no "cheats" and well, we'll see if it works for me.0

*jealous* lol. Yeah most people lose quite a bit the first week, it should steady out. It'll go back on as quickly as it came off if you dont keep it up though. Well done!0

*sigh of relief* thanks guys... I definitely plan on keeping this up!!!0

Refined carbs and starches can make you retain heaps of water. If you cut them out, your body will release that water, which not only looks good on the scale but also tells you that you're on the right track  Just make sure you drink you eight glasses of water a day!0

Yes, this happened to me last week, was very shocked!
Someone posted this link when I asked about it: http://www.justinowings.com/understanding-bodyweight-and-glycogen-de/0 -
Thanks Alheimurinn!!!
that was a great article..0 -
I've actually been really concerned about a similar issue but mine is more drastic. I've lost 22 pounds in about a week and a half. I've been eating heaps of greens, no fast food, deserts, candy or other bad food. It's exciting but I'm also scared especially with all of this talk about "starvation mode".0
