Hey,
Does any one know, have an opinion or have experiences with this...

I started using ellipticals with arm handles that move back and forth. By in large, I hate ellipticals, but I needed to change my workout due to shin splints I've been getting. *Rather run", personally.

Do they help ton/firm up your upper arms or they just for balance? Am I getting benefits from holding on to those swaying handle bars?

Thanks in advance...

I use one at my gym and have used them for years at my old gym.... yes as you up the resistance the arms get harder to move, they work your arms and your core. Some people prefer not to use them and that's fine, but i like using them.

When resistance is set to a higher level I use my arms to help move my legs.... so to answer your question, yes they help tone your arms...

Thanks, I figured with was like leg lifts without any resistance. One would have to do 20 minutes of it for it to do any good. I thought that I would give it a go for a month to see if I see any reduction in my arms.

i find that if I hold the moving arm handles at lower resistance my heart rate goes up quickly so it's a plus for cardiovascular training but I can't maintain that rate. I tend to only use those handles at higher resistance where my pace is slower and I can really push and pull to take some of the workload off my legs.

Even if it didn't help out with anything, I sure feels like it works on my body! lol
