Not an ounce of movement...

Ok, friends...help. My scale has not budged an OUNCE.
I'm seeing a difference and feeling a difference, but it's kinda frustrating when the scale isn't moving.
My thoughts:
1. bad scale?
2. I'm really not losing at all
3. ????

Any ideas?

If you feel a difference and feel great, I suggest putting the scale way, after all, it does nothing but upset you right?

What kind of scale do you have? I had a dial scale and it would never balance properly so I switched and have a digital scale now and it's pretty consistent.

If you're seeing and feeling a difference then go with that for now. It is very frustrating when the scale doesn't move however that doesn't mean you're losing inches. Are your clothes fitting looser? Have you done your measurements and has there been any change in that? I know it's hard because you want to see the scale move but just because it doesn't budge doesn't mean you're not losing.

You may be at a plateau currently, but also, it could be your scale. The scale at my girlfriend's house is a very old digital scale, and its very inaccurate. The most accurate scale? The ones they have at the doctors office, with the sliding weights.

Toss the scale out the window and stick with watching your mirror (and measurements) and how you feel! That's the more important part of the journey anyway!

As for why it's not moving... Many reasons:
    1. you're retaining water in your muscles due to new exercises in your routine.
    2. your body is redistributing your weight around your body, switching fat to muscles, etc.
    3. It's a bad scale.
    4. You are doing an absolutely awesome job and the evil scale fairy refuses to allow you to see it!

Okay, maybe not #4, but you get the idea. If that's you in your pic, you look awesome! No need to worry about the scale. Just enjoy the changes you have made!

Today was the first time I weighed myself in about a month. I'm not obsessed with the number---just kinda perplexed at the lack of change. I have seen/felt differences since faithfully working out, measuring food, etc.

I have the Biggest Loser scale. It's digital. However, I weigh more on that generally then at the dr's office. Not sure...??

Track your body fat. Use the same site each time so you can measure consistently. Here's the one I use:

Even if the scale doesn't move, you can still see your fat loss. I also track my lean body mass to make sure I'm not losing muscle or organ tissue. That way I feel confident that the weight I'm losing is what I want to lose and not something I don't. This site also steps you thru that calculation.

I know what you mean. I'm actually trying to build muscle, so weight gain is something I am looking for, but in a good way.

I weighed myself three weeks ago which is when I started weight training and was at 121.2lb. I weighed myself a week later after upping my calories to maintenance and lifting weights. I went up to 122.4lb. I then weighed myself again the Saturday just gone, still with a maintenance calorie intake and still weight training and went down to 121.6lb...

I upped my calories to 2000 calories from 1870 calories and am still lifting weights. I will weigh myself this Saturday and measure my waist, chest and glutes like I did for the past 3 weeks. Hopefully I will see a bit more change. My waist size did increase by half an inch since last time, my chest decreased by 1 and a half inches and my glutes stayed the same.

So within free weeks, I am pretty much back where I started, but with an increased waist size by half an inch O.o

Ok I've got to be harsh for a moment - Sorry!

If that's you in your profile pictures, and your ticker is up to date, then I can say with certainty that you do not have 10-15lbs to lose. Weight is not an accurate measurement for people who don't have a lot of MASS to lose, but who want to change their body composition. I would do two things:

    1) Put your scale in a closet and leave it there
    2) If you MUST measure yourself, measure your body fat percentage (a trainer can do it with calipers, or you could pay to have a submersion test for better accuracy) or use a measuring tape.
    3) Consider that how your body feels is a lot more important than numbers.

    Hey! Thanks for the encouragement!

As a disclaimer, my profile pic is me about 10 lbs. lighter on my honeymoon about 2 years ago. That is my inspiration photo... that's where I want to be.

All that being said, I love the counsel. It's not "harsh". It's real. Thank you.

Eat more! Are you eating at least your BMR? You may be plateauing because you're in starvation mode.

    Read this thread: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/546227-for-the-500-000-time-eating-more-works
