Do you use a food scale at home? Which food items do you weigh vs. measure with a measuring cup/spoon? Do you feel that it has made a difference in your weight loss? Do you recommend the type of scale that you own?

Yes and I use that and measuring cups for just about everything I eat. It's pretty surprising at first when you see how many ounces that piece of chicken or fish you were eating really are! I was eating more than double of some serving sizes without realizing it. I would highly recommend for anyone tracking their foods.

I have a pretty basic one that I grabbed at Target one day. It gets the job done and was around $10 so I can't complain.

    I don't use measuring cups.

Depending on what I am eating, I will weigh it before or after it's cooked. Like pasta, I will weigh it before cooking and I try to not use so much.

With chicken, if it's a whole chicken, I only tend to eat the breast, so I weigh the cooked chicken, I also take off the skin when I weigh it. With raw chicken breast on it's own, I just weigh it before cooking even though it most likely weighs more raw than it does when cooked because of all the moisture that evaporates. I tend to not cook my chicken so much that it's dry, I will it to be soft and moist so some of the moisture is still there, I just tend to only weigh it raw.

The only time I use a spoon to measure something, is when I am using say Soy Sauce, Cinnamon or other spices.

I use a scale to weigh my meals. This is very similar to the one I purchased about a year ago:
    http://www.amazon.com/Stainless-Kitchen-Display-Batteries-Included/dp/B00482VU8M/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&qid=1335800380&sr=8-31
I find that it has assisted greatly on my path towards losing weight. Also serves in place of all measuring cups, spoons and what have you - if you turn it on with a cup/plate already on it, it's easy to get the net weight of what you're measuring.

I use a kitchen scale because everything over here is measured in grams.

I have a cheap but cute mechanical scale. It is hard to be accurate down to the gram, but I can tell a 10 gram difference and thats fine with me. It also does ounces which is handy for american recipes i've taken with me over here.

I have a digital scale but I rarely use it. I am good with measuring in cups/tsp/tbls with my eyes because I cook everyday. If I'm not measuring I always round up on my journal because I'd rather measure over than under.

I have the biggest loser food scale. It is great because it switches between grams and ounces. I weigh 90% of the time when I am preparing a meal, but I also use a measuring cup on rice and other recipes that have that info but not the weight.

I only use measuring cups/spoons for liquids or for foods that I only have nutritional information for the volume. I weigh everything else - cereal, meats, salad dressings, etc. If I have a label which gives me NI in weight, it gets weighed. It's so much easier, and I don't have to dirty up measuring cups! :)
