Turkey

I brought in for lunch regular turkey breast from a roasted turkey (bone-in) that my mom made on Sunday. I was logging my food ahead of time and realized how much sodium is in turkey. Is the protein really worth it when it has 1300 mg of sodium? I measured out 4 oz to add to my salad...but 1300 mg of sodium!!! Gosh, I just don't know what to do.

I probably should keep my mouth shut as I'm not expert, but unless you have BP issues, I wouldn't sweat it. Eat the turkey, drink extra water to flush it and enjoy.0

I agree.
But I also wonder if there's as much sodium as it says on here if it was homemade.0 -
You might want to double check this- I would think that Na content would be for deli-cut turkey, not home made-but don't knwo for sure-try researching this. Be good to know for sure.0

When I looked up "generic turkey breast" it came out to 90 mg sodium for 4 oz. If your mom rubbed it in salt then it would be higher.0

That is one hell of a lot of sodium, turkey does not contain anywhere near that amount.
How did your mum cook it?0 -
She made it in a large roasting pot. No salt rubbing.
I didn't look on the turkey package.
I'm going to look it up on the internet.

Wow!!! It is completely different. I searched MFP for roasted bone-in turkey breast and got a very high sodium content. After looking at Butterball's website, their whole turkey breast (frozen) was much more reasonable.
