Hey folks. I'm new to Myfitnesspal. I've been doing exercise classes for the past 3 weeks (after my husband volun-told me to do it, and in retrospect, I'm glad he did) and I've recently started looking at my eating habits to help me get into better shape.

How long did it take people to adjust to the changes? Was it gradual or did you find jumping in headfirst worked for you?

Jumping BACK in head first worked for me... I've been back for a little over 3 weeks and have lost 12 lbs.

I've been making minor changes over the last month (my first month), and I'm feeling pretty comfortable where I am right now...both with my eating and my workouts. Welcome!

Here's what I always tell the new group members. :)

How does MFP work? For me:

    1. Eat clean
    2. Meet your calorie goals, don't fall below them
    3. Set your goals to lose 1lb/week unless otherwise advised by a doctor
    4. Log every bite--if you are tasting during cooking chew gum or just log each taste.
    5. Keep your routine varied, try something new: Zumba, martial arts, body combat, Tai Chi, power yoga...keep your body confused and your mind from getting bored.

I reached my goals in September. I also read Everyday Food magazine (makes it easier to log--nutrition info included), www.dailygarnish.com, and Whole Living Magazine. You can get free recipes on all of their websites.

    Welcome!

I just hit 35 days, and I feel like I'm in a pretty good routine. Only took a week or two to get used to the change in diet, but I'm so glad I did!

jumped right in, but the first couple weeks weren't the easiest ever. I go with the theory, if you really want it go ahead and eat it, but make up for it at other meals and with exercise. For me this is real and I'm losing weight and getting more toned it seems so I think its a good theory :) Welcome and best of luck!

It has taken me a good six months to get to know my body better and what works for it. Well, I still don't know a lot, but so much more than I did. I make changes every few weeks when I feel a particular thing isn't working out so well (mostly my calorie goal). The site is great...there is so much you can learn here. And then all the different opinions to help you. Pick what works for YOU!

After tipping my toe in the proverbial fitness/healthy lifestyle water for so many times before, finally decided this year I would take the plunge and finally get going. Took about a week, but its been smooth sailing for the past month. So jump on in, the waters great!
