Not losing inches/pounds yet

So I have been at this for about 3 weeks. I know that isn't long but I have been really pushing myself and committed. I go to the gym 6 days a week for 60-90 minutes per workout. Until now I have stayed with strictly cardio exercises (Elliptical, treadmill, row machine) burning anywhere from 300-600 calories a day. I allow myself to cheat on food during the weekend but I am still conscious of what I am eating and stay under 2000 net calories. All other days I stay at or below 1200 net calories. The first week I did lose 1.8 pounds. Yea me! But last week I actually gained .4 of a pound. I am carrying most of my weight around my middle section. Is there something different I should be doing to get a thinner waistline? I am starting to burn out and lose motivation.

It looks like you may not be eating enough, especially with all that exercise. You should be eating at least your BMR. Please read these Topics. Very insightful.

So I read through there and visited the website they recommend. I have eating about 1600 calories a day to stay at a net 1200. So I calulated my body fat percentage and and then my BMR. I am currently working out 6 days a week. 400-500 calories or so per workout. Per the chart below I should be eating about 2080 or more calories per day. If I dont lose again this week I think I am going to try increasing my calories. That seemed to work for alot of people. And I like my calories
Activity Level Daily Calories
Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1610
Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 1845
Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2080
Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 2315
Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.) 25500 -
Yeah, you really should be netting at least your BMR. 1200 is too low to sustain. You will certainly lose for a while, but then you will probably stop losing after a while. You're body is most likely holding on to every calorie it can right now.
Good luck!!0 -
1200 is too little. That's starvation mode. I'd add another 200 cals.0
