For the past month now I've been stuck between the same three pounds.
D< I really want to break something.

Ive been working out 5 times a week, sometimes twice a day.
And eating healthy.. ish...?

I think i've narrowed down the problem to two things:

1. Being out of school now, there has been a lot more time to go out and enjoy life = Social Eating. Previously I'd be out for dinner with friends at the very very most once a week. I'd use these days as my 'cheat days', but as I'm heading out for summer fun almost every day now.. I can't quite do that anymore..

How do I prevent this overeating when out? It's kind of hard to enjoy oneself when everyone else is eating their great food and you're twiddling your thumbs.. -And- they're encouraging you to eat more.

2. Since last month, I've increased my amount of exercise without upping my calories. For the one week I did everything religiously correct without the problems of 1., nothing changed for me. Perhaps I need to up my calories healthily? And if so, how much?

This plateau is killliiiinggg me. I considered waiting one more week to address this problem on the boards and seeing if cutting back on social eating might change things, but I'm feeling really discouraged and a little bit angry right now. D;

Is that 96 to 99 pounds? That seems really light. How tall are you? Perhaps your goals are not realistic if you are trying to get to such a light weight. I am going to guess that your body is not losing anymore because it is trying to store everything you eat. You should try to find out what your body fat percentage is. I am guessing it is pretty low. You want to stay around 15 to 20% at least to be healthy.

    Good luck and stay healthy!

I think your pretty tiny already though right at 99 pounds?.....I don't wanna tell ya your business or anything. But 99 lbs is 2 of me right now. I think you should enjoy your summer. Make the right choices in foods, exercise but I would relax on getting these last few pounds off......

That is me. Good luck cutie :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

I mean, more than anything, I'm working towards toning and shaping.. but being stuck on this plateau isn't making me very happy either;; And I'm eating right and exercising the pounds off D:

  • Try not looking at the scale so much.

This could be your body's way of telling you that your are at a good weight. You should just focus on working out and getting tone. You will lose inches by working out since you will have good muscle tone.

You are at a good healthy weight for your height. You are close to the bottom of your range for being at an average BMI weight. Try not to judge yourself too harsh when it comes to losing weight. Like I said, this could be your body's way of telling you, you don't need to lose any more.

Even at 4' 11" I'm not sure you have any fat to lose. Have you consulted your doctor? If so, what did he/she say?

If you do need to tone up a bit I think that is what you should concentrate on. NOT the scale. You may actually be putting on some muscle mass which could explain the weight increases.

Also, ensure you are eating enough especially if you are exercising regularly.

My last piece of advice, is to not obsess over this. You are 18! Enjoy your life. You are a beautiful young woman and you will miss out on so much if you let this weight issue consume you. There are so many of us on here who look back to when we were your age, shake our heads realizing how unrealistic our body image was then and how much life we missed out on!

    Thanks for the suggestions :3.

Then. If I'm going to be focusing on toning instead of weight loss, can someone suggest how I should be changing my work out? Or if I should be at all?

Currently I switch between weight and cardio days.

Weight days I'll focus on leg press, abductor (theother..--ductor..), ab exercises, dumbell excercises and then about 35-40min of cardio (usually running).

Cardio days will be 1-1hr15 of running, the elliptical and whatever else. : P

Don't forget to work on your lower and upper back. Plus your shoulders. There are various exercises, either using machines or just regular dumbells that will work. Lunges with weights hanging down are good for the thighs and glutes. Make sure you work all of your muscle groups. If you do the bicepts, make sure you do the tricepts. If you are going to do abs, to get it tigher on the sides, take a small weight and lift yourself up and go from side to side. It is difficult at first, but you will see a difference. Just make sure you don't go too fast because resistance is really the key when it comes to working out. The slower you go, the more of a work out you will get.

Do you belong to a gym? If so, you can get a free trainer session. Also, you should put some variety into your cardio. You should try spinning or if you have a bike, take that out for a spin. Plus, for those days you can't make it to the gym, you can get some good workout videos.

I think two of the dumbbell exercises I do work the shoulders, but what kind of exercises work for the lower and upper back?
I've got the side ab workout you suggested going on already too :3

I've heard of spinning, but what is it? :3
I go on the bikes at the gym.. arc trainer.. etcetc
Its funny, I actually tried to get my bike working again yesterday since it was such a nice day, but the air came out because the pump was broken.
I ended up finding some biscotti hidden in the garage instead when coming back disappointed that my bike wasn't working, and had one of those instead. : P Not quite the substitute I was looking for.

    squats obby<3
And i've gotta say, pushups are awesome, but I'm not a fan of them ; D
