Is this a good diet?

I'm looking to try the prescriptionPLUS diet which is one given out by doctors. It seems balanced enough and I'm planning to follow the 1500 cals one on days I exercise (I'm just starting C25K) and the 1200 one on my down days (these tend to alternate)
I might hit up a protien shake when I've worked out and not worry about the extra cals. Do you think it is something I will have success with? I am 250lbs and 5'5 and 32 years old.
Here is the link to the diet. http://whitehallmedicalanddental.com/yahoo_site_admin/assets/docs/adipex2.38202519.pdf It was actually suggested by a MFP'r but then so many things are that are not actually good for you so I thought I'd get some advce before wasting time.
Thanks in advance, Lally.

Whenever I see diets like that...like boxed diets etc. I always think is this what you plan on eating for the rest of your life? Once you reach your goal will the weight come back? I say learn how to eat healthy for the rest of your life with moderate splurges. Probably not what you wanted to hear :)

Seems like a good program to me, except for a few diet myths (breakfast is super-duper important etc...). I wouldn't choose the 1000 or the 1200 cals programs though, too restrictive!

Here's my 2 cents! There is nothing inherently "wrong" with the diet, but choosing from different lists seems very restrictive. You will likely feel deprived of your favorites which will cause you to go off "diet". If you really want to maintain long term weight loss you aren't going to eat off lists the rest of your life (plus it seems like it could be a challenge when going out to eat or eating at someone's home). It appears that you've already lost some weight so you are already doing something right! How about just learning to eat healthy while incorporating the items you intend to eat for the rest of your life? By looking at this food plan, it seems that it could easily be unhealthy since there are a lot of processed foods on these lists. I'm by no means a clean eater but I try to minimize the processed foods and eat as many whole foods as I can.

Whatever you choose, I wish you luck!! :flowerforyou:
