sorry if this is a stupid question but do all HRM's tell you how many calories you've burned?

I ask cos when I look at the different ones available some say in product description it tells you how many cals burned and some don't say anything about cals burned but give other details about the product I don't understand

and do you think it is really important to have a hrm? I myself don't trust mfp's calculation

do you for e.g burn less cals doing the same exercise the fitter you become, when I started working out I could barely make it through a 15 min session I would feel half dead I can now most days easily manage 45 mins to an hour I feel my fitness improving and I have lost weight so it's prob likely that I am not burning as much as I was at the beginning????

they dont all calculate calories burned. if that's something you want be sure to read the product features.

it's not important to have an HRM. for decades people lost weight and kept it off for without using one.

yep the fitter you become the easier it is to exercise. part of it is because you're fitter and the other part is because your body gets efficient at doing things the more you do them. in order to burn the same amount of calories and get fitter, you would need to increase the intensity of the exercise

Depending on where you live, you can get cheap and good HRM's from ALDI at the moment (as an example). I bought a couple for £12.99 which appear accurate and which do tell calories burned... and which funnily enough report less calories than MFP does.

For me it is essential to have a hrm. Im a numbers person and like having accurate data. It also motivates me massively. I have the polar ft60 and its fantastic. I didnt know all of the didnt calculate calories, watch out for that then! You will burn less as you get fitter. MFPs estimations are often no where near what my hrm says. I'd much rather have accurate numbers! Look into the Polar FT range though, they are great!
