How much muscle mass can I expect to gain?

I am just starting a heavy lifting program and had a physical accessment. In order to get to the weight I want with the appropriate body fat percentage (which is comfortable to maintain and I look great at) I would need to gain 15lbs of muscle. I do tend to be able to gain muscle easily but this just seems like a lot. I was working with a trainer and lifting before my first child and I seem to remember my Lean body Mass being in the 140s (now it is 126.66), so I guess I was carrying a lot more muscle then... or have a faulty memory.

Possible?

You could reasonably expect to gain that in 2-3 years with the proper training and nutrition.

Remember, lean body mass also accounts for bone and sinew, which can flux.

I have no idea..sorry! But what I can tell you is that I've been lifting 2-3 times a week since October and for the first time in my LIFE, my arms, shoulders and legs have definition. My husband is sick of me telling him to feel my shoulders (rock hard) but it is so fun! :) You will love lifting. I do usually gain a pound or two the day after..I think I read on here that muscle will retain water as it heals from the small tears you made lifting. Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!

"On average, a natural male doing everything right will be doing very well to gain 1/2 of pound muscle per week. A female might gain half that or about 1/2 pound muscle every 2 weeks."
