Gas Prices

Who would have thought rising gas prices could have a benefit? Since the price has been rising, I have been driving less. I now walk my kids to and from school (weather permitting) and I think twice before running to the store for something I want, as opposed to what I need.

Best example: this morning I woke up craving a blueberry muffin and French Vanilla coffee from WaWa. I considered walking there (just under 4 miles round trip), to off set the calories and save on gas. Since it is about to rain, I will save myself the calories and stay home.

My question for you...how much is gas where you are, and has it changed your driving habits?

The Europeans. :) They developed all kinds of different modes of functional transport (walking, cycling, mass transit) to deal with the prices that have been sky high for years now for them. :) Yay for healthy!

Saw $3.99/gallon this morning. I've been riding my motorcycle (not anything new though) and making sure I only drive my truck (14mpg) if I absolute NEED to. The 280Z gets driven some, but it barely hits 20MPG. On work days when there are no kids here, I'm going to try bicycling to work!

Buckeye-Ok...very true. I didn't think of that. But to be honest, I never thought it would change my habits this much. I have always been more conservative about driving, but didn't think I would consider walking to the store.

JM-I think bicycling to work would be awesome! And...I love your pic!

I've been thinking about walking to the store, but that was more of an exercise thing, not thinking about gas prices. It's at $3.89 a gallon here in Houston.
