More advice for newbs. I have always been a sprinter in my younger years. When running, I like to push it and get that distance done as fast as possible. But as a sprinter, long distances don’t really jive with me. After help from members of this forum, I decided I needed to slow down on my runs. It was actually really hard to do. I kept wanting to go faster but held back. But I stayed slow and did something I have never done before. I actually ran a mile without walking. It may not sound like a lot, but it was a big goal for me and at my previous pace, it wasn’t going to happen anytime soon. So slow and steady wins again and thanks to everyone here for all your help. Now that I met that goal, if off to the next. Beating goals is the best motivator…..

    Awesome job.

Many years back I ran 10+ miles a day for cross-country/track team.

I think i am in the same boat as you. I probably wouldnt be able to go much more than a mile at my current state. Hopefully that will change soon.

Keep it up, one of these days you'll be saying "Holy crap, I ran five miles without stopping or walking!"

    It's a glorious feeling!

Thanks. One mile at a time. My next goal is two.
