Hey, well I'm all up for cooking, and making delicious healthy foods. I'm trying to find some healthy and wholesome cook books (preferably UK friendly) that really place emphasis on vegetables and fruits etc. Generally more about raw foods I think. (Though the only meat I eat is fish.)

Can anyone recommend me any good books for such recipes?
Thanks :)

hm, i'm not sure actually i love them all haha - but my favourites have always been one of bill grangers, Best of Bill is probably the best one or his sydney odessy (i think thats it's name ahah) as they're really focused on vegetables, fish and are really good with spices and flavors :)

but if you want one purely on veggies and wholefoods i'd reccommend the superfoods cookbook, it has barely any meat in it at all and honestly it's the one i've found most helpful for my current diet. - it's also really informative on all the different types of wholefoods too :)

I'm a huge fan of Mark Bittman. He has a cookbook called How to Cook Everything Vegetarian which is good, but I think you could get a really good feeling for how he writes and cooks via his old New York Times column "The Minimalist": http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/26/dining/26mini.html?_r=1&ref=dining

Joy of Cooking - simple conversions... substitutions are available within and it's got lots of info, I'm still looking for an old version that has far less microwave instructions ;)

Mark Bittman "How to Cook Everything" (and all his other books)
"The New American Plate" - excellent book with nutritional info for each serving included
"The Art of Simple Food" by Alice Waters
"Around My French Table" by Dorie Greenspan
"How to be a Domestic Goddess" by Nigella Lawson - AWESOME dessert recipes!

Those are the main ones I use, oh, and also Julia Child's books. I also google a LOT on allrecipes.com

I don't know about books but I love http://allrecipes.com You can look up anything you may be interested in, the recipe is there with the calorie count and comments from people who have tried it. They even have a section for 1200 calorie menus and how to prepare section for those foods that are more on the rare side to prepare.

The Everyday Happy Herbivore by Lindsay Nixon (www.happyherbivore.com) - she does simple, inexpensive meal plans through her website.

Vegan Planet by Robin Robertson. Robin has TONS of great cookbooks, but I've not had ONE failed recipe from this book. LOVE IT!
