Fad Diets VS Healthy Eating and Exercise

I wonder if anyone has ever done a study on how many people lost weight with fad diets and kept it off versus a study on those who lost weight with healthy eating and exercise and kept it off. If I were a betting person, (sometimes I am) I'd bet those who lost weight by eating healthier and exercising were more sucessful beause they re-trained themselves on proper eating for a healthy lifestyle. I would also bet, those on the fad diets gained it all back and then some because they went right back into eating poorly and not exercising. I, myself have lost weight both ways and I can tell you I was more sucessful on the healthier option. I'm not saying ALL those who took the "Fad" way put it back on but I'm saying the majority most likely did.

I've done the "fad" diets and, over the years have lost and gained back more than I care to remember.

It's tax season, so I get to see a lot of clients that I haven't seen since this time last year and hearing compliments along the lines of "wow, you've kept the weight off" are music to my ears. I still have a way to go before I hit my "ideal" weight but I'm living proof that exercise and portion control are the way to go and that it really is a lifestyle modification, not a "diet".
