Confused on calorie count

My husband made homemade chili with ground beef, kidney beans, pinto beans, tomatoes, etc. One calorie count I got for that off MFP said there were 500 calories in ONE cup! Today I clicked on a different one and it was only 200 calories for a bowl. How do I know how many calories I am REALLY consuming?

    If you have the recipe, enter it as a recipe. Then you can use it every day while you finish off the chili.

    I would scan each bar code thats in the chili then adjust your serving size...

    When I do something homemade, I try my best to put in each ingredient individually (I leave out spices because that can get time consuming) and then figure out from there how many calories I had.

    For example: 1 lb ground beef, 1 can kidney beans, etc. and just estimate serving size or put in your own recipe and weigh/measure it.
