I'm intrigued. But, is it possible to do it at home? What equipment would I need? How does one figure out what a good, safe starting weight would be?

I do this at home. At minimum you would need some adjustable dumbbells. I also use a barbell, swiss-ball, pull-up bar, a step, and a weight bench but you could improvise with what you have at home and figure out good alternative exercises if necessary (I do band assisted pullups instead of the lat pulldown for example, the book also lists a dumbbell alternative).
It is best to start light and increase the weight (maybe 10 lb dumbbells and 40-50lbs on the barbell exercises).
Hope this helps!0
