First of all, i don't understand how eating more helps in losing weight. It means you must eat more but exercise more, right? I don't see how just eating more will help you lose weight. So someone please explain that to me!!

Also, anyone around 140lbs and losing? I need more tips.. if anyone has any diet and exercise tips for me, i would greatly appreciate it... just need some motivation and knowledge. :/

Oh boy did you open a can of worms! Hopefully there are enough threads out there with people fighting about eating more so they will leave this one somewhat civil.

I am at my goal weight of 140, and started lifting heavy weights so I am not losing more weight, but the shape of my body is changing dramatically. I'm 5'6 BTW.

How much more are you looking to lose? I think there is a group on MFP that is in the 140-150 range discussing how to push below that but I'm not a member.
  • the reasoning is that mfp tells you how much to eat if you just sit and do nothing and still lose your goal loss. when you exercise you body needs n=more fuel.

whether or not you 'eat back' your cals is up to you. I've stopped trying because it's way too much food and I'm not wanting to stress out about it.

I eat healthy, watch the cals, exercise and log it all in... this is just a tool for you to use. don't get too legalistic about it or you won't be thinking for yourself. take everything with a grain of salt. do your research and be informed. don't take it all at face value. be smart.

    hope that helps... :)

You want to eat more to reduce the calorie deficit you're creating. If the deficit is too large that could cause issues with you losing weight, especially if you don't have that much to lose. A healthy weightloss goal per week is 1lb, if you're VERY close to your goal then drop that to .5lb were week loss.
