Hi everyone, I have a question about using my heart rate monitor. I just got it today and used it today while exercising and it read that I burned 661 calories. My question is actually about the exercise diary because if I was to log my exercise according to MFP standards, my power walk of 65 minutes would only be around 395 calories. I was wondering yesterday when I logged after my walk because I was really pushing it, up hills, pushing a stroller with a 20 pound baby in it. I thought 395 calories seemed a little low for how hard I was working. (On the days my husband has music classes I can't go to the gym, so that is the best workout I can do while caring for my baby) I was wondering if there is a way to add in just the calories burned in the exercise area kind of like the quick calorie thing they have in the food logging?? Otherwise I have to put a really high number for the minutes walked and I would like to just add the calories burned in the workout. Same for if I am going to lift weights, I want to know if I can just put weight lifting, and calories burned. Hope my question makes sense.

You can edit the calories when you enter it. Enter in the number of minutes and then change the calorie number to match what's on your HRM.

You can add a cardiovascular exercise, and choose "Create a new exercise", entitle it how you choose, enter the minutes and calories. Likely you can reuse that one once you've created it, just adjust the minutes to obtain the calorie count that the HRM indicated.
The best number to use is the HRM number.
